One of the perks of being a Senior programmer (Band 9) at IBM is you get an office to yourself. I was promoted shortly after arriving in Germany and worked at customer sites there and in Scotland so I never had
the chance to claim my own space. Now that I’ve arrived back in Austin I decided to take the opportunity to personalize my office a bit by making myself an oak bookcase.

It’s a fairly standard design.
Crown moldings at the top, baseboard molding at thebottom, with a two-fluted columns on the right and left. I set the adjustable metal shelf supports in a dado to get full shelf width. The shelves are 3/4″ plywood and have a bullnose applied tothe leading edge to give them strength and the look of a thicker shelf. Now I just have to fill it up with books.
